
Sanming is located in the north-central part of Fujian Province, nestled between the Wuyi and Daiyun mountain ranges. The forest coverage rate reaches 76.8%, earning it the reputation of 'China's Green Capital'.
Sanming has a long history. Known as 'Sha County' in ancient times, it is one of the birthplaces of the Minyue culture. It was established as a county in the Tang Dynasty and renamed Sanming in the Ming Dynasty due to the three famous mountains (Qilin, Hutou, and Shizi) within its territory. In modern times, it was an important part of the Central Soviet Area, with a profound red culture.
Sanming's culture is diverse, being a confluence of Hakka, Minyue, and red cultures. Its cuisine is famous nationwide for Sha County snacks, such as flat meat (wonton), ban mian (noodles with sauce), and stewed soup. Sanming has a mild climate. Spring and autumn offer comfortable temperatures and moderate rainfall, ideal for outdoor activities. In spring, mountain flowers bloom, and in autumn, forests are tinted with colors, perfect for photography and hiking.
Summer (June-August) is hot, but mountainous areas like Taining and Jiangle are cool, suitable for escaping the heat. Winter (December-February) is cold, but you can enjoy hot springs and Hakka New Year customs.

In the first year of Yixi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (405 AD), Shaxian County was established, one of the earliest county seats in the Sanming area.
