Huangshi is located in the southeast of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, at the northern foot of the Mufu Mountains. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall, with an average annual temperature of about 17°C. The city is dotted with many lakes, such as Cihu and Qingshan Lake, forming a unique landscape city pattern.
Huangshi has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of Chinese bronze culture. The Tonglüshan ancient copper mine was already mined during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and a large number of ancient mining and metallurgy sites remain. In modern times, Huangshi rose due to its mineral resources and became an important industrial base of New China, known as the 'Hometown of Bronze and Cradle of Steel.'
Huangshi has a diverse culture, integrating mining and metallurgy culture, industrial culture, and landscape culture. Local cuisine is based on Hubei cuisine, with specialty snacks such as Huangshi Gang Cake and Prince Tofu. The annual Cihu Lantern Festival and Dragon Boat Race are important folk activities.
In recent years, Huangshi has actively transformed from a resource-based city to an eco-tourism city. The National Mine Park and Cihu Scenic Area have become popular attractions. At the same time, Huangshi is vigorously developing modern manufacturing and port logistics, with sustained economic growth.
