广安位于四川省东部，地处川东平行岭谷与嘉陵江中游，属亚热带湿润季风气候，四季分明，雨量充沛。境内华蓥山纵贯南北，嘉陵江、渠江穿城而过，形成独特的山水格局。
广安历史悠久，古属巴国，秦置宕渠县。近现代史上，这里是邓小平同志的故乡，邓小平故居成为全国重要的爱国主义教育基地。广安还曾是川陕革命根据地的重要组成部分，华蓥山游击队的故事广为流传。
广安文化融合巴渝与川东特色，民间艺术有云童舞、竹编等。美食以川菜为基础，特色小吃如岳池米粉、武胜猪肝面、邻水肉汤圆等深受喜爱。当地人喜好麻辣，口味浓厚。

遊覽广安的最佳時間是春秋两季最佳，3-5月和9-11月.
春季（3-5月）：气温适中，百花盛开，尤其适合游览邓小平故里和华蓥山，山间杜鹃花烂漫。
秋季（9-11月）：天高气爽，华蓥山红叶遍野，嘉陵江两岸风光宜人，是摄影和户外活动的好时节。
夏季虽热但华蓥山是避暑胜地，冬季温和但偶有霜冻，建议避开雨季（6-8月）以免影响登山。
